PIRATE THEMED DENTAL OFFICE

For this returning client’s third office with IDS, the goal was to create more than a collection of colorful rooms. The entire pediatric dental office was designed around one connected story.

Two child mascots lead young patients through a tropical pirate adventure as they face off against a crew of mischievous sugar bugs. The narrative begins at the front desk, continues through the waiting and play areas, and unfolds across the treatment rooms. Each space reveals another part of the adventure while reinforcing the practice’s playful approach to children’s oral health.

The custom reception desk resembles the side of a pirate ship, complete with waves, a crocodile, portholes, rope netting, a mast, and a sugar bug swinging overhead. This memorable first impression introduces the characters and theme as soon as families arrive.

In the waiting area, a large tropical mural leads children toward Gamers Cove, where a sculpted sandcastle and jungle environment surround several built-in gaming screens. The combination of murals, three-dimensional features, and interactive activities turns waiting time into part of the experience.

The story continues into the treatment spaces through pirate ships, hidden caves, jungle ruins, treasure, waterfalls, friendly animals, and sugar bugs causing trouble along the way. The practice’s mascots appear throughout the scenes, giving children familiar characters to follow from one area to the next.

By carrying one narrative throughout the office, IDS created a cohesive environment that feels imaginative, branded, and completely different from a traditional clinical space.
