Connect Your Social Media Platforms Together To Save Time

In previous blog posts we’ve discussed social media and offered a few ideas to get the ball rolling. However, sometimes it can be hard to manage all of your different social media profiles.

Most dentists have a social media profile on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Here are some tips for relieving a little time and effort from your social media management by connecting your platforms together!

First, it is important to have an account specifically for your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Having a presence on these platforms is vital for reaching existing clients and for finding new ones.

One of the simplest ways to post to each of your accounts is to connect all of your social media so that posting to one will cross-post to the others. This will make updating content easier and keep profile activity for your office social accounts evenly distributed.

Connect Instagram to Facebook:

Just follow these straightforward instructions on how to link Instagram to a Facebook page.

To share posts from your Instagram account to a Facebook Page:

  1. Go to your profile and tap .
  2. Tap  Settings.
  3. Tap Account > Linked Accounts, then select Facebook.
  4. If you haven’t already, enter your Facebook login information.
  5. By default, your Instagram account will share to your personal Facebook profile. To share to a Page instead, choose a Page that you manage below Share to.

If you are a fan of Instagram, you can set up your office social media account so that when you share with Facebook, the post will be shared with your business page instead of our own. By keeping a social media presence high on both Instagram and Facebook, you can reach more fans and garner interest in your business.

Connect Facebook to Twitter:

Just follow these straightforward instructions on how to link Twitter to Facebook.

  1. From your desktop computer, log in to the Twitter account you want to associate with your Facebook profile.
  2. Go to your Settings menu’s Apps tab.
  3. Click Connect to Facebook.
  4. If you are not already logged in to Facebook, then you will be prompted to enter your Facebook login credentials. Enter your credentials and click Log in to sign in to Facebook.
  5. You will then receive a prompt explaining that Twitter will receive certain information from your Facebook account. In order to continue, you must select Continue as [Facebook name].
  6. You will then be prompted to select the privacy settings for who will see your Tweets and Retweets posted to your Facebook wall. It is set to friends by default.
  7. Click OK to complete the process.
  8. Your Tweets and Retweets will now post to your profile Facebook wall and your username will be displayed there as well. Replies will not be posted.

Use third-party programs to post everywhere at once.

Hootsuite is a social media management platform. With it you can schedule posts in advance on all your platforms at once. The system’s user interface takes the form of a dashboard, and supports social network integrations for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Best of all, it has a free version to try out first.

There are many more programs out there that provide a similar service with different costs associated with them.

Social Media Tip!

Our previous blog post titled How Theming Creates the Ultimate Brand for Your Business, discussed the importance of a unified brand and how theming can help. Social Media is no different. To keep your office brand consistent, create a set of house-rules for each social media profile so that you know what sort of content to post to each. Some accounts might be more professional than others, or include specific themes or colors in every post.

Happy posting and stay social!

Threading a Theme Through Your Digital Space

How Theming Creates the Ultimate Brand for Your Business

10 Website SEO Tips for Beginners

Bring in New Patients with a Grand Opening Theme Reveal

Once your office has been completed, the importance of a Grand Opening Theme Reveal should not be undervalued. Whether you have themed an existing office or built one from the ground up, a Theme Reveal is a perfect opportunity to connect with the community and gain new patients.

By hosting an event for families, it is considerably easier to draw in potential new patients and get everyone in your community excited about the theme you’ve created.  Existing patients will get a sneak peek at the office before they come in for an appointment. Kids have the chance to explore and get comfortable in the office, helping alleviate anxiety and getting them excited about visiting the dentist.

This is also a great option if you can’t get theming installed before your official business start date. Have a soft launch to get the business going and smooth out any kinks, then celebrate in a big way when you get your theming installed!

1. Choose an Event Date and Spread the Word About Your Grand Opening

Choose a date for your Grand Opening Theme Reveal party. Alert local newspapers, send a message to mommy blogs, advertise in school newsletters, send out a notice to your existing patients, and create some buzz for your new, improved office on social media!

2. Host a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Incorporate a formal ribbon-cutting moment into your event. Invite local officials, chamber of commerce representatives, or influential community members to participate. This can generate positive media coverage and enhance your office’s reputation.

3. Guide the Party from Outside to Inside

If you party starts outside, people walking past your event will be drawn in and want to know more. A tour of the inside to show off your theming is important as well, but make sure you grab attention and draw in visitors with fun and balloons. Then you can have tours of the inside of your office, showing off you great theming.

4. Bring in Local Entertainment for Kids and Adults

Your event can be as big or small as you want!

  • Invite sports mascots and local sports celebrities to sign autographs for your patients.
  • Have someone dress as the tooth fairy to entertain kids.
  • Hire artists to paint children’s faces and clowns to hand out balloon animals.
  • Get a band to play some music for children and adults to dance to. This will also draw attention to people who can hear your party from a distance.

5. Serve Food at Your Party!

Nothing brings in crowd faster than a BBQ or a pancake breakfast as part of your reveal. Kids loooove hotdogs.

6. Have a Photo Op Available for Guests

Whether it’s an IDS themed prop, pictures with the tooth fairy, or a basket of kid-sized costumes in front of your dental office logo, make sure your name is getting shared on social media by the people attending your event.

7. Run a Contest for Party Attendees

Everyone loves prizes! Have a draw where attendees must write down their name and email to sign up for your newsletter. Or run a social media contest for the best photo op image tagged with your party hashtag.

8. Offer Exclusive Event Promotions

Attract even more attendees by offering event-only deals, such as:

  • Discounts on first appointments for new patients.
  • Free dental consultations for families attending the event.
  • Branded goodie bags with dental care items, like toothbrushes, floss, and stickers.

9. Partner with Local Businesses

Collaborate with nearby businesses to amplify your event. For example:

  • Local bakeries or cafes could provide treats.
  • A nearby bookstore might set up a booth with themed children’s books.
  • Gyms or wellness centers could sponsor giveaways, promoting mutual business growth.

This partnership creates a win-win situation, broadens your reach, and strengthens ties with the community.

10. Live Demonstrations or Interactive Activities

Set up stations where kids can learn something fun and dental-related. Ideas include:

  • Tooth brushing challenges with fun timers and prizes.
  • Interactive displays showing how teeth grow and why dental care matters.
  • “Decorate a Tooth” craft stations, where kids can design and color their own tooth cutouts.

These hands-on experiences make dental health education enjoyable and memorable.

11. Document the Event for Future Marketing

Capture the energy and excitement of your Theme Reveal to use in future promotions. Hire a photographer or videographer to create:

  • Highlight reels for your website and social media.
  • Photos for email campaigns and print materials.
  • Testimonials from families about their experience at the event.

This content can be repurposed to attract new patients long after the event is over.

Create a Welcoming Environment, Invite Patients in, and Set Yourself Up for Success!

A Grand Opening Theme Reveal isn’t just an event—it’s an opportunity to connect with the community, showcase your incredible new themed space, and establish your office as the go-to dental practice for families. Whether through food, fun, or creative contests, every element contributes to an unforgettable experience.

By following these steps, your event will be a marketing success and a stepping stone to lasting relationships with your patients.

This is all apart of your greater dental marketing strategy. Regardless of which stage you are at in the design and build process for your dental office theming, it is never too late to start planning your Grand Opening Theme Reveal to bring in new patients.

How to Add a Google Office Tour to Your Business Page

Technology is constantly evolving. In the past, patients were only able to view your dental office once they arrived at their appointment. With the improvement of cameras and the widespread influence of Google Maps and images, it is easier than ever to let your patients step into your office without ever leaving the comfort of their own homes.

Google offers a feature called “Google Street View” for businesses, which allows users to virtually tour the interior of a business. This is often used for restaurants, shops, and other establishments. But it can be used for dental offices too!

Add a Google Office Tour to Your Business Profile to Make Your Business Page Stand Out

From Google:

When searching for businesses, consumers use mapping products 44% of the time. Listings with photos and a virtual tour are twice as likely to generate interest.

What is a Google Street View?

Google Street View photo shoots allow Google-certified photographers to create spherical images that are linked together through an easy-to-navigate interface. By clicking on the arrows on a virtual office tour, your potential patients are able to explore your whole office and get excited about the theming you’ve used throughout your practice.

Check out this safari office on Google Maps

Here’s How to Add a Street View Tour to Your Google Business Listing

There are 2 easy ways to add an interior street view tour to your business listing.

Here are general steps you can follow to add a Google Office Tour to your business page using Google Street View:

  1. Create a Google My Business Account:
    • If you don’t already have a Google My Business account, create one by going to the Google My Business website and following the instructions to set up your business profile.
  2. Verify Your Business:
    • Google will require you to verify your business ownership. This is typically done through a postcard sent to your business address with a verification code. Follow the instructions provided during the verification process.
  3. Access Google Street View:
    • Once your business is verified, log in to your Google My Business account.
  4. Navigate to the ‘Photos’ Section:
    • In your Google My Business dashboard, find the “Photos” tab or section.
  5. Upload Interior Photos:
    • Add high-quality photos of the interior of your business. These photos will be used to create the virtual tour.
  6. Hire a Google Street View Photographer:
    • While you can upload your own interior photos, hiring a professional Google Street View photographer is recommended for a more polished and immersive experience. You can find a trusted photographer through the Google Street View website. Hire the Google Street View team here.
  7. Work with the Photographer:
    • Coordinate with the photographer to schedule a photo shoot of the interior of your business. They will capture 360-degree photos to create the virtual tour.
  8. Review and Publish:
    • Once the photos are taken, review them to ensure they represent your business accurately. Then, publish the virtual tour to your Google My Business listing.
  9. Promote Your Virtual Tour:
    • Share the virtual tour link on your website, social media, and other online platforms to showcase your business to potential customers.

Remember that features and processes on online platforms can change, so it’s a good idea to check the official Google My Business guidelines or contact their support for the most current information.

First Impressions are Key to Gaining New Patients

By providing a beautiful and colorful virtual office tour to explore, you get the chance to grab the attention of potential clients from the very first look. Virtual office tours are easy to add to any website and adding business photos may correlate with a higher local search ranking.

Whether you have a small practice or several large ones, including a virtual office tour for your patients to explore is as obvious as brushing your teeth.

How Theming Creates the Ultimate Brand for Your Business

10 Website SEO Tips for Beginners

3 Quick Tips on Using Theming as a Social Media Promotional Tool

Theming your office can be a great way to attract customers by word of mouth and online. As of 2018, 3 out of every 4 Americans own a computer and 96% of adults own a smartphone. That’s a lot of people going online every day! More and more these people are using the internet to find dentists. It can seem daunting to try and stand out online, but theming can give your office the boost it needs to attract new patients. Themes can give you appealing visuals to work with and constant content for your social media presence.

3 QUICK TIPS ON HOW TO GET STARTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA PROMOTION

You’ve got a fun new theme in your office, great! Now what? Previously we wrote about how to capture your office theme with fantastic and interesting photographs. Make sure that photos of your office theme are prominent on your office’s website. It will attract attention in a sea of dental websites and give potential patients a reason not to look further.

1. Use Social Media Contests to Create Social Media Engagement

Start uploading your images to your office’s Facebook page and encourage people to “like” and share it. The more likes and shares you get the more people in your area you will reach. But people aren’t going to like an image just because it’s cool, you need to engage the viewer in some way. Why not turn one of your photos into a caption contest? That’s a great way to get people interested in your new theme and to start talking about it!

2. Photo Ops are a Great Way to Get Organic Social Media Engagement from Your Patients

Turn your office into a photo op! Have a “Cavity Free Club” photo area with your theming on display. Encourage patients to take pictures of your office and post them online on their personal sites like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Again, turn it into a contest. The best smiling selfie wins! This can be great word-of-mouth marketing for your office when family and friends start commenting on how they want to know more about where those images were taken.

For an in-depth look at photo ops and tips on how to use them, check out our blog on how to get the most out of your photo op.

3. Use Hashtags to Promote Your Office on Social Media

Hashtags are your marketing friend! Promote a fun hashtag like #bestdentistever for your patients to use when they upload pictures and reviews of your office.

People trust the experiences of others and online recommendations are increasingly important for dentists and doctors; make sure that people are getting the right view of your office!

Tips for Celebrating Holidays in Your Dental or Medical Office

Kids love holidays! Celebrate the holidays in your office with costumes, decorations, and contests! If you have IDS office theming, don’t miss the opportunity to throw a Santa hat on an elephant or turn a crocodile into a spooky ghost for Halloween! Fun photo opportunities are available everywhere in your themed office. Here are some other ideas for ways you can celebrate the holidays with your patients.

Celebrating Different Holidays in Your Dental Office in Ways Your Patients Will Love

Halloween Office Celebration Ideas

October is the gateway to plenty of office decorating opportunities! Decorations, additional props, and even costume contests are a great way to engage patients and show off your festive spirit.

Organize a pumpkin carving contest either with patients or with your staff. Showcase their carving skills and give your patients a laugh. Display the carved pumpkins in a designated area for everyone to enjoy, and let your employees or social media followers vote for their favorites.

With your staff, arrange a Halloween-themed potluck lunch where employees can bring in dishes inspired by the season. Encourage creativity by incorporating spooky or whimsical twists into traditional recipes. Take some pictures and show them off on social media.

The holidays can also be used as an important educational tool for children in many dental offices. After Halloween, many children participate in ‘Candy Buyback’ events that allow kids to bring their candy to their local dental office in exchange for money or small dental-related gifts.

Not only does this teach your patients about the importance of healthy eating habits, it also gives them the opportunity to donate to a cause. Many Candy Buyback events donate the collected candy to military troops overseas to lift their spirits during the holidays.

Thanksgiving Office Celebration Ideas

November welcomes in Thanksgiving, which has become one of the biggest holidays in America, even bigger than Christmas.

The appeal of Thanksgiving lies in its simplicity and universality. It’s a holiday centered around a fundamental human experience — gratitude. Regardless of background or belief, people across the nation come together to appreciate the good things life has to offer. You could have a food drive to donate to your local shelter to help them provide meals for the less fortunate.

Set up a gratitude wall where children or your staff can write or draw what they are thankful for. Cut out some leaf shapes and have your staff write what they are thankful for this year, filling it with happy vibes.

Thanksgiving is also a great time to decorate with arts and crafts made by your patients (turkey hands, anyone?). Encouraging children to be creative in the waiting room helps to distract kids from any dental worries, while nurturing their imagination.

As a parting gift to your patients, provide children with Thanksgiving-themed dental goodie bags. Include items like the usual toothbrushes and floss, but also throw in stickers with festive designs.

Christmas and Other Holiday Celebration Ideas

In December the spirit of giving is at its peak. This month is the perfect opportunity to educate children on the importance of charity along with health. As a local business and leader in the community, you can host contests or raffles encouraging patients to support local charities. Host contests to see how many toothbrushes your patients can collect to donate to a local shelter.

Decorate the office with a touch of holiday spirit, but keep it professional and neutral. Avoid overly religious or potentially divisive decorations. Consider using seasonal decorations that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere without being tied to a specific religious tradition. This is also the perfect time to turn your office into a winter wonderland through the addition of fluffy snow, holiday hats, and cut-paper snowflakes made by your patients!

A coloring contest can be a great way to get your social media hopping. Post the coloring pages and host a contest to get some social buzz around your practice. We have a number of winter holiday coloring pages and activity sheets in our IDS Kids Club if you need some inspiration.

Hiding an Elf on the Shelf throughout your office is sure to excite your patients – there is so much mischief an elf could get up to in a medical practice! The internet is full of ideas if you need some help deciding on the perfect hiding place.

Recognize and celebrate a variety of holidays to ensure inclusivity. Consider the diverse cultural and religious backgrounds of your staff and patients. Acknowledge major holidays beyond Christmas, such as Hanukkah, Diwali, Eid, or other culturally significant celebrations.

Use the holiday season as an opportunity to share relevant health tips with your patients. This could include advice on maintaining oral health during holiday feasts, managing stress, and staying active during the colder months.

Valentine’s Day Celebration Ideas

Make sure your dental patients show their teeth some love on Valentine’s Day. Hand out dental valentines with floss and a toothbrush attached to local schools as an office promo. Or give them to your patients and tell them to pass it along to someone they love to make sure they are caring for their teeth. Here’s a cute idea we grabbed from Pinterest:

Don’t forget about Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, Back to School, Homecoming, and any local holidays.

There are so many ways to celebrate all year long. Plan themed events or activities to mark holidays. This could include a potluck lunch, a holiday-themed dress-up day, or a team-building activity. Ensure that participation is voluntary and that events are inclusive of different preferences and beliefs.

Enjoy the holidays and remember to take advantage of them to help promote your business!

How do you celebrate around your office?

6 Tips to Help You Take Great Photos of Your Themed Office

You’ve just opened the doors of your newly themed office to the public, so now what? Show it off of course! It’s time to start spreading the word by utilizing social media and viral marketing with great photographs of your newly themed office.

How do you do that? Well, the first thing you’re going to need is some great photos of your new themed office. We’re here to help you get the best promotional photos you can.

6 Simple Tips on How to Make Your Amazing Office Look as Exciting in Photographs as It Does in Real Life

1. Avoid Bad Lighting in Your Promo Photos

Lighting is crucial for capturing the details and vibrancy of your themed office.

Try to avoid using a flash as flashes can cause unwanted glare and shadows. Using natural or artificial ceiling lights will give you a much better photograph and show off the colors of your amazing new office.

However, it is important to be aware of bright windows and harsh sunlight shining into your office when taking photos. Bright sunlight streaking across your photos can bleach out props and details on murals.

Too much sun bleaches out details.

Perfect lighting shows all the details.

2. Use Models to Add Size and Context to Your Themed Decor

Use a child or staff member as a model to give an idea of the size of your props. This will give viewers the right perspective on how large your prop is and convey how much fun it is for kids to interact with your decor.

Use models to demonstrate how the theme is integrated into the functionality of the office. If there are interactive elements or themed workspaces, photograph them in action. This not only highlights the aesthetics but also conveys the practicality and usability of the themed design.

Don’t forget a model release form to make it official. A model release form will protect you against civil liability lawsuits should an issue arise later on. Here’s a great resource on why you need a model release and a free template for making your own.

Kids interacting with theming.

Showing scale and having fun!

Bonus Tip: Use your theming as a photo op backdrop for “Cavity Free Club” photos and post those on social media on a regular basis.

3. Get All the Angles of Your Theming

Zoom in, zoom out. Take some close up shots of unique characters, detailed shots of quirky characteristics of the props, and some wide angle shots that allow the viewer to see the entire atmosphere of the themed room.

Get the whole room in a shot.

Take a step closer for another view.

Take photographs at different levels. Stand on a chair or bend down to take photographs that show new perspectives and unique detailing on high or low props. Many of your young (and short!) patients will have a very different view of the props then you will so keep that in mind too for some different types of photos.

4. Get Creative and Use Depth of Field in Your Photos

A basic definition of depth of field is: the zone of acceptable sharpness within a photo that will appear in focus. Basically, you want to purposely make parts of your photo out of focus to draw attention to the subject. It helps to show a visual of this to understand it better:

A flat-looking photo with no depth of field.

Depth of field creates blur and focus, make those clams stand out.

Depth of field helps to take a good photo and turn it into a great photo. Close-up shots add depth and allow viewers to appreciate the craftsmanship and creativity in your themed design.

Depth of field makes Dr. Pigeon pop!

If you want to learn more about using depth of field to give your photographs that extra pow, check out this photography tips site that runs through the basics – a great resource for anyone who wants to take up their photography skills.

Even your phone camera can take intriguing photos with depth of field. Start experimenting with what you have if you don’t have a fancy camera.

5. Sometimes More is More!

Make sure to photograph each room and each individual prop from multiple angles. More photographs mean more stock images that you can use in magazine ads, flyers, social media updates, and of course for showing off to all your friends and family.

6. Hire a Professional Photographer

This is the easy option if you and your staff don’t have an eye for photography. A real estate photographer will know how to shoot the interior and exterior of your building, but as we have learned over the years from sending photographers to capture our installs, they may not know just how to shoot the unique theming in your office without a couple of the tips on this list. Feel free to share this blog with your hire!

Now that you have some good dental practice photos you can market them to your potential clients. Now share them to your website, Google business page, and social media. Remember not to post all of the photographs to social media at once, but instead post a few at a time which will keep your potential clients interested, and make your office seem like there is always something new and exciting going on.
